Big surprise, a Clinton appointee hack has blocked some of the provisions of SB1070 from going into effect. Among them, requiring officers to check a person's immigration status while enforcing other laws. To me this is not a big deal, because it simply blocks the law from requiring them to check immigration status, which does not mean their status cannot be checked of their own volition.
She ruled that the controversial sections should be put on hold until the courts resolve the issues. Other provisions of the law, many of them procedural and slight revisions to existing Arizona immigration statute, will go into effect at 12:01 a.m.
There is a protest and march planned for tomorrow which should be interesting because our very own Sheriff Joe has said that he and his posse will be down there to arrest any illegal's on site. Thank God there is one entity in Arizona that is not hamstrung and crippled by federal do-nothings.
Hopefully this will make a quick round to a court where someone other than a Clinton retread will apply common sense and knowledge of the law to their decision. Then the task of actually enforcing a law already on the books can commence, and perhaps our budget will look a little brighter when we’re not having to provide so many services to illegal's.
I’ve often wondered if people who are against SB1070 are against enforcing other laws like rape or racketeering? Aren’t those laws unfair to the people who commit those crimes? Aren’t they being oppressed and having their civil rights violated when a person is targeted simply because they committed these crimes? The FBI targets white males when there is a serial killer on the loose. Isn’t that an insulting affront to their human rights? After all they’re being targeted simply for being a certain color and sex! Morons…
