Breaking News:

Obama signs Press Freedom Act, then refuses to take questions

Man, this is almost too easy. The blatant hypocrisy of this administration has reached laughable proportions, and two recent events bring it right out in the open.

barryxbox Last week, America’s mistake lamented the era of iPads and Xboxes had turned information into a diversion that was imposing new strains on democracy.

"You're coming of age in a 24/7 media environment that bombards us with all kinds of content and exposes us to all kinds of arguments, some of which don't always rank that high on the truth meter," he told the students. "And with iPods and iPads, and Xboxes and PlayStations -- none of which I know how to work -- information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation. So all of this is not only putting pressure on you; it's putting new pressure on our country and on our democracy."

For an administration that exploited the media for the last couple of years, this sudden proclamation seems to want to shut them up after the propaganda has been delivered. Does Obama think the Internet has only been around during his administration? How interesting that it’s a fantastic tool for spreading the administrations lies and distortions, but when it starts to catch on and highlight the gross incompetence and outright misleading practices of this regime, suddenly it’s a distraction and should not be taken seriously?

Based on the quote above, we are supposed to believe that Barry is either a moron, or just plain lying. My vote is for the latter. He’s in love with his Blackberry almost as much as he is with himself, and we’re supposed to believe he doesn’t know how to use an iPod or an XBox?

Today, the Teleprompter in Chief signed the Freedom of Press Act. The law requires the State Department to list countries that threaten press freedoms and permit violence against journalists. It "puts us clearly on the side of journalistic freedom," Obama said.

Chip Reid of CBS news then tried to ask, “Speaking of press freedoms,” then proceeded to ask about the gulf oil spill, Obama responded “You are free to ask them,” Obama said. "I'm not doing a press conference today."
