Bingo – The Musical! Traditional UK Bingo Calls Get a Po-tatstic Makeover
(PRWEB) July 7, 2008
The traditional bingo calls of “Legs 11″, “Two Fat Ladies 88″ and the rest have been given a pop music makeover thanks to a community of online bingo players. Players at online bingo site FreeBingo UK (http://www.FreeBingo.co.uk) put their heads together to come up with pop music based alternatives to the traditional bingo calls, which have remained unchanged for decades. The calls are used in a new ‘Music Room’ bingo game at FreeBingo UK (http://www.FreeBingo.co.uk) launched last week and feature 90 pop-tastic bingo calls based on rhyming pop and rock stars’ names, famous chart hits and number-based band names.
Out go Gordon’s Den (10), Clickety Click (66) and Two Little Ducks (22) and in come Eminem (10), Get Your Kicks on Route (66) and The Who (22). As with traditional bingo, there are 90 calls in total, and each one now has a specific link to a musician or song. The full list, along with explanations and a preview clip can be found at http://www.freebingo.co.uk/bingo-rooms/musicroom.asp.
To add to the fun, the musical bingo calls have been voiced by celebrity impressionist Stuart Smith so that ‘Elvis Presley’, ‘Frank Sinatra’, ‘Tom Jones’ and ‘Harry Enfield’s DJs Smashy & Nicey’ are the bingo callers in the room.
FreeBingo UK (http://www.FreeBingo.co.uk) Manager Wayne Howe said, “These new musical bingo calls are all about moving with the times and engaging with popular culture to attract a younger audience to the game of bingo.”
“The land-based bingo industry is suffering at the moment, but bingo online is really thriving. The fact that we can create new calls and design exciting themed bingo rooms really sets online bingo apart from the traditional ‘eyes-down’ bingo halls of the past.”
FreeBingo UK (http://www.FreeBingo.co.uk) was the UK’s first totally free to play online bingo site and was founded in November 2005. It is the UK’s largest free bingo games website, with just under 100,000 registered players.
